Feelings
One thing that I have discovered during my walk with the Lord, is that He affirms our feelings.
Psalm 34 is my favorite Psalm and I love reading it in the King James Version. King James Version is the most trustable translated version because it’s just too close to the Hebrew and Greek language in overall.
Psalm 34 was written by King David and the summary of this psalm is this: Do Not Hide Your Feelings From God.
You know, one of my super powers is joy. I’m always happy no matter what. I’m pretty upbeat. It will be pretty difficult for you to see me sad or grumpy (unless I’m hungry of course .. hehe) But I have this thing that I can entertain myself most of the time by using my creativity. I’m sure I’m not alone on this.
If you’re always here, you’re probably like that too..and I like you :)
But this joy that I have comes from the Lord. This joy comes out of a heart that doesn’t carry any sort of guilt. I am just so sure I’m walking before God guiltless of all my bad stuff.
Listen up, I’m not saying I have no sin and I am the holiest person ever. What I am saying is that everything I go through, I go through with the Lord.
How does that work?
It’s very simple. Everything that you go through in life, every thought, every feeling … any feeling … present it to God. Tell Him what’s going on, do not hide it and expose it and ask: “What do you think about this?”
You’ll be surprise at the fact that … this somehow will make God closER to YOU. I think it has something to do with Psalm 34:18 that says: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Well .. If I am all messed up with my feelings and I can’t discern them and I don’t know where I’m heading and I can’t control them … then … I’m 100% “brokenhearted and crushed in Spirit”.
God and you .. become Besties :)
And I don’t know about you …. But me … well .. I come through a lot, no kidding. So I’m always praying. That’s everything I can share with you right now …. hahah … uhhh Gawwwdd…
That’s what you have to do! We all should never pretend like we are not coming through hard times with our hearts. Instead, we must acknowledge our feelings and embrace them.
God will always find ways to save and rescue and help out His people to the point where He can even give impossible things to your hands if He judges the cause right. I think David knew that.
I Think … that David thought something like: “I’m all messed up with my feelings… but I am going to present this before my God. Who knows … but …He has a solution for this somehow? What IF maybe .. I’m not wrong with my feelings? What if this is something that God put inside my heart? What if He is with me somehow and Wants to give me what I have in my heart?”
Don’t belive me?
Okay …
2 Samuel 12:8 God said that if David had problems with Women, He should’ve asked the Lord for His help, and He would have probably given Him more women. (referring to the Bathsheba episode)
“I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.”
“David .. do you have problems with women? ASK FOR MY HELP! I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THAT! I WILL GET YOU WHAT YOU WANT, JUST SO YOU DON’T COMMIT ADULTERY! JUST DON’T DO WHAT YOU JUST DID!” THAT WAS LITERALLY WHAT GOD SAID!
Whatever trouble or confusion you face with your emotions, feelings… Do not hide from God. EMBRACE IT! LET GO!
LETTING GO of a feeling, doesn’t mean forgetting it, or pretending it like you have zero struggles with that. But it’s actually the opposite of that. It’s you embracing and confessing you have certain feelings.
God will give you the final word. Do not hide. Do not run away. Do not pretend like everything is fine. Even ask for what you want and ask God what He thinks about it!
What if God, Himself was the one that put this inside your heart?
What if He actually wants you to ask for it?
What if He wants you to have it?
What if ………….
He wants to give it to you?
Ask.
Whatever you got going on in your heart, ask God and let Him give you the Final Word. What if He is the One that actually put this desire and feelings inside of you? He knows the future … we don’t! We never know what He is up to unless He reveals it to us.
